Write Your Own Story - 3 Ways Journalling Can Help You Manifest

Journalling is a powerful manifestation tool. You're likely familiar with affirmations and the 369 method; however, other techniques go deeper and can help you heal and get closer to your manifestation faster.

Why journalling works?

Journaling is an excellent tool for mental health because it helps you at a deeper level. Have you ever had a hard time articulating something verbally and then been able to organize your thoughts easily by writing? The same is valid for thoughts. Writing them down will bring clarity and make them feel more attainable.

Writing can also help reprogram the subconscious. Whether identifying behaviour patterns and limiting beliefs or writing your goals and desired outcomes, writing brings awareness to your current subconscious programming and helps you see what you want to change.

Some of the techniques described below are excellent practices you can add to your routine to help you heal and bring clarity. While shadow work enables you to bring awareness to the aspects you hide, gratitude and scripting help shift your vibration. Whether you choose one practice or mix and match all three, you only need a few minutes daily.

Although you can use an electronic device to write, using pen and paper makes you write slower. It forces you to mentally engage with what you're writing, which leads to a deeper emotional connection and better results if you're trying to heal or manifest.

Shadow work

Carl Jung coined the term shadow work to describe aspects of the subconscious that we hide or suppress. This hidden side of the subconscious is often viewed as negative because it's connected to lower-frequency emotions such as anger, fear and shame. But by accessing these emotions, you can dive deep and understand the root of trauma and repressed feelings and how they show up in your daily life.

By raising awareness, you will be able to understand your behaviours and act with more compassion. You will also be more empowered to change because you will learn to recognize your old thought patterns and replace them with new emotions that align with the being you want to become.

You can be as broad or specific as you want when doing shadow work. You can use generic prompts that will have you analyze your personality as a whole, or you can focus on one particular area you would like to work on, such as self-love, relationships, or body image.

Gratitude

If you don't have much time and want to pick one thing to focus on, gratitude is your choice because it works in many different ways. It shares a similar frequency to joy and love, which is optimal for manifestation for two reasons. As you know by now, manifestation can't come from lack, and when you're in a state of gratitude, you move to a place of abundance. Remember, you attract who you are, not what you want, so if you feel abundant, you will attract more of it. The second reason is that manifestation is all about possibilities; when you trust them, you open yourself to infinite outcomes. When you feel grateful, you go into a state of knowing your wishes will materialize before they happen. You are grateful for having that in your life even before it shows up,  signalling to the universe that you are ready to receive your manifestation.

As a society, we tend to focus on the negative and what we don't have. By practicing gratitude, you can train your brain to focus on the positive aspects of your life. This practice not only shifts your energy, as mentioned above, but it also has a considerable positive impact on your mental and physical health. Your emotions are expressed and stored in your body, so fear, stress, and anger will trigger the hormones that put you in survival mode, leading to inflammation and a weakened immune system. On the other end of the spectrum, gratitude, love and joy can help your body heal by releasing hormones linked to cellular repair and can even revert DNA damage.

The gratitude practice is simple. To make it more effective, do it first thing in the morning and just before you fall asleep, as your brainwaves are in theta, the state where your subconscious is more easily accessible. You only need 5 minutes to write down three things you're grateful for and watch how your reality will shift. Another great idea is pairing your morning gratitude with some intention-setting to align your subconscious with the reality your conscious mind wants to create.

Scripting

Scripting is a great visualization technique. It's a simple journalling practice in which you express gratitude for the life you desire in the present tense, recounting how it feels now that your manifestation has come true.

There is a very good reason why this technique is so effective. Your brain doesn't know the difference between an event that actually happened and something that you imagine. And since we attract who we are and not what we want, when we write about our desired life, focusing on how we want to feel, we embody this new version of ourselves and start to attract what is in the same frequency.

Another reason this works is that manifestation requires alignment of emotion and intention. While scripting, we embody emotion while simultaneously setting our focus and intention on the changes we want to see come true. In addition, you're building new neural pathways by opening yourself up to these new feelings and possible outcomes that could come into your life.

To further this, writing about the energy you want to embody helps you understand what is important to you, gives you more clarity, and brings you closer to your authentic self, another key element that attracts what you want into your life.

It's your turn

It's clear now that there is a lot you can accomplish when you put pen to paper. All this might sound far-fetched or too simple, but these techniques are rooted in neuroscience.

That doesn't mean you have to use them in your healing and self-discovery journey, but it's good to try different things until you find the tools that resonate with you and will help you reach your goals.
